FAU Solar Sustainability Colloquium Sparks New Ideas for Recycling Photovoltaic Materials

Researchers of FAU Solar hosted the first colloquium on Sustainability, focused on the recycling of photovoltaic (PV) materials. The event brought together sustainability experts to share insights, discuss innovative approaches, and develop new initiatives.

The colloquium featured three compelling presentations, highlighting distinct aspects of sustainability:

  1. Ian Marius Peters (HIERN) discussed the concept of reversible recycling in emerging photovoltaic technologies.
  2. Roman Hahn (FAPS) presented the ongoing project REEPRODUCE, which explores advanced methods for recycling rare earth magnets.
  3. Arne Bochmann (Fraunhofer IKTS) shared the wide range of instrumental advances available at Fraunhofer IKTS.

Following the presentations, attendees engaged in a dynamic discussion session, where they explored new ideas and initiatives to further advance sustainability. The discussions covered a range of topics, including innovative recycling processes, the environmental impact of PV materials, and collaborative efforts between research institutions and industry stakeholders.

FAU Solar plans to host similar events in the future to continue fostering innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
